The Victorian Off Road Championships are moving onto Round 9 & 10 in Omeo with the weekend hosted by the Koo Wee Rup Motorcycle Club. One rider who is looking forward to the next round(s) is Ryley Oakes.
Ryley is competing in the U19 A Grade class where he is currently in eighth position.
“I’ve been running mid pack mostly, in what is a highly competitive class,” Ryley said.
This year Ryley has also made the jump from Junior racing and competition to the Senior ranks and says that he was pretty happy with his final Junior year.
“I was in the J4 class last year for my final go round in Juniors and I finished fourth overall. I had a few issues but was happy with the year.”
With the step up from Juniors in 2016 to Seniors in 2017, Ryley has put in the work off the bike to keep his conditioning up.
“I ride whenever possible on the weekends but through the week I do plenty of physical training using battle ropes, kettle bells etc. and I try to get out on the pushbike as well.”
When asked what he enjoys about the Victorian Off Road Championships, Ryley said:
“The competition and mateship between riders that has been made over the years, I also enjoy the challenging courses – and I get to ride!”
Rounds 9 & 10 of the Victorian Off Road Championships are taking place this coming weekend, the 5th & 6th August in Omeo.
