The Victorian Off Road Championships are moving onto Round 9 & 10 in Omeo with the weekend hosted by the Koo Wee Rup Motorcycle Club. One rider who is looking forward to the next round(s) is Jake Gogol.
Jake is competing in the U19 A Grade class where he is currently in seventh position in his first year in the Senior ranks.
“Last year I was able to achieve a second place finish overall in the J4 class and I was happy with the efforts I put in and in getting the top three result that I was aiming for,” Jake said.
“Over the previous rounds this year, I’ve been sitting lower in the standings than I would have liked but have been gaining speed and confidence throughout the year.”
“I was able to achieve a fourth in the Corner Inlet round which has given me a big confidence boost knowing I have the speed.”
Jake was one of the riders chosen to attend the MV Elite Rider Training Camp early last month and he has incorporated some of the teachings from there into his already extensive race preparation.
“The ways that I prepare for this year included a lot of mountain bike riding and keeping myself on the bike as much as I could, training as hard as I could each time I go out.”
“I’ve also spent time with a few of the other U19 riders doing mid week cardio sessions.”
“I have prepared myself for this upcoming round by spending a lot of time on the bike and using the equipment and skills gained from the MV Elite Rider Training Camp for my training sessions.”
When asked what he enjoys about the Victorian Off Road Championships, Jake said:
“The things that I really enjoy about the Championship is the competition this is in my class, how I get along with people in the motorbike community and lastly, the feeling of riding.”
Rounds 9 & 10 of the Victorian Off Road Championships are taking place this coming weekend, the 5th & 6th August in Omeo.
