The fourth and final round of the 2017 Victorian Junior MX Championships will take place this weekend down at the Wonthaggi Motocross Track and one of the riders who would be ready to go this weekend if not for an unfortunate broken collarbone, is Joel Walker.
Joel is currently competing in the 125cc C Grade class and is atop that class heading into the final round.
“This is my first year racing in the Victorian Junior MX Championships, last year I raced on my 85cc in local events at clubs like Central Vic, Bendigo and Castlemaine,” Joel said.
“I had a great first two rounds placing first overall in Cobram and Colac before finishing second overall in the previous round at Rosebud.”
To prepare for the final round, Joel took part in a coaching clinic at Wonthaggi a couple of weeks ago. It was at this event that he unfortunately came off his bike and broke his collarbone.
“I’m disappointed to have gotten injured and not being able to compete in the final round.”
“However, I will still be attending the event this weekend to cheer on my mates and my younger brother!”
When asked what he enjoys about the Victorian Junior MX Championships, Joel said:
“I enjoy the Championships because I get to race which I love doing and I get to hang out with my mates.”
Here’s hoping for a speedy recovery for you Joel.
The final round of racing for the Victorian Junior MX Championship is this weekend (Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd July) at the Wonthaggi MX Track.
