The fourth and final round of the 2017 Victorian Junior MX Championships will take place this weekend down at the Wonthaggi Motocross Track and one of the riders ready to tackle the weekend head on is Michael Murphy.
Michael is taking part in the 125cc A Grade class and 250cc A Grade class, he is currently third and fourth respectively.
“I’ve had a slightly up and down Championships so far,” Michael said.
“Last year I raced in the 85 BW A Grade class and did a couple of rounds of 125 A Grade too, this year I’ve stepped up to the 125 and added the 250.”
“I finished 5th (125) and 4th (250) overall at Rosebud, 3rd (125) and 6th (250) at Colac and in the first round at Cobram I finished 5th (125) and 7th (250).”
“I’m currently in third on the 125 and fourth on the 250 going into this final round at Wonthaggi.”
Like most other people, Michael prepares by riding as much as he possibly can (when he isn’t racing).
“I’ve prepared by pretty much riding every weekend and I’ve also been riding my mountain bike every day of the week after school.”
When asked what he enjoys about the Victorian Junior MX Championships, Michael said:
“I enjoy these events because they’re so family friendly and you make some pretty good mates at the race track. However, I mostly enjoy these events because there is some hard competition and it makes for some good racing.”
The final round of racing for the Victorian Junior MX Championship is this weekend (Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd July) at the Wonthaggi MX Track.
