The fourth and final round of the 2017 Victorian Junior MX Championships will take place this weekend down at the Wonthaggi Motocross Track and one of the riders ready to tackle the weekend head on is Ty Godfrey.
Ty is currently competing (and leading) the 65cc C Grade Class in the Victorian Junior MX Championships and this year is his first year of serious racing on a 65cc.
“Last year was my first year on a 65, coming off a 50 and I didn’t do much racing,” Ty said.
“We just went riding on different tracks to get used to the bike and did some smaller events.”
He has taken part in each of the three rounds of the 2017 Championships so far, having a great battle with Lachlan Metcalf.
“I’ve been going pretty good, I had a big stack at Cobram in the last race and Colac was rough but Rosebud is my home track and it was good to ride there.”
Ty is backed by a solid team as he prepares for races and he knows how lucky he is to have done so well and have that support.
“I ride with my brother Jed and have fun on weekends, this year I started doing some coaching with Cam Taylor and Tom Carroll and they have taught me a lot. I’m also lucky to have some great sponsors behind me who all support me with racing.”
When asked what he enjoys about the Victorian Junior MX Championships, Ty said,
“Riding and making new friends that we only get too see on race days because we live so far away from each other.”
The final round of racing for the Victorian Junior MX Championship is this weekend (Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd July) at the Wonthaggi MX Track.
