We’ve made it to the final round of the 2016 Victorian Junior Motocross Championships, with the action to take place at the North West Victorian Motorcycle Club in Mildura.
Motorcycling Victoria took the opportunity to send some random riders, who will be competing in the final round, a few questions about the upcoming weekend. Those questions were –
- What are you looking forward to about this weekend?
- How have you prepared for this weekend?
- Other than winning, what is your main goal this weekend?
Here’s what they had to say:
Callum Norton:
“I’m looking forward to racing my last ever Victorian Junior Title round and to hopefully bringing home two podiums and maybe a win. I’ve been doing lots of riding, training and also a few other races. Hopefully it pays off! Other than winning, I just want to come out of the weekend injury free.”
Brad Cain:
“As Rosebud is my home track and is a sand surface, I’m most looking forward to racing on sand again at North West Vic! I’ve been working hard with my trainer Jed Cornthwaite from Race Fit to prepare myself as I try to finish off the season in the top ten of both classes (125cc A and 250cc A). This years Titles have had most of the countries best junior riders attend the series and I can’t wait to Junior Australian MX Championship in Renmark.”
Will Riordan:
I’m looking forward to getting back to my old club, catching up with my first coach (Jason Wood) and just having fun with my mates. I’ve mostly been training with my brother (Angus). I’m just going to go out there and do as well as I can and enjoy myself.
Tyson Moras:
“I’m looking forward to having three strong races on Saturday. I’m feeling quietly confident of being able to hold onto the points lead and hopefully win my first Victorian Championship. I’ve prepared for this weekend by doing a two day coaching school at the track a couple of weeks ago with Glenn Macdonald to familiarise myself with the track. I’m going to go and have fun with some good mates and also look to continue to improve my riding skills as next year I will be racing seniors.”
Riley Findlay:
“This weekend I’m looking forward to some great racing and working hard but having fun on a great track. I’ve been working with Joe Stevens from M.A.D. at the gym and on the bike since the last round. I’ve been eating healthy and hydrating for the weekend. My main goal is to have three good consistent motos and improve my overall standing for the series.”
Angus Riordan:
“I’m looking forward to riding at my old home track and can’t wait to rip up Jason Wood’s track which he has put so much effort into. I’ve mostly been training with my brother and Callum Norton. Other than winning I will just be out there to ride safely.”
Nate Hicks:
“I’m looking forward to my mum coming to watch me this weekend, she hasn’t been able to this year yet. To prepare I have raced in a series of lead up events and I have rested this week. My goal is to stay safe, have fun and hopefully get a top ten finish.”
Ty Sharp:
“This weekend I’m looking forward to catching up with some of my friends that I only get to see when the Vic Titles are on, some live four to five hours away and some are from interstate so this is the only time we get to hang out and catch up. I’m also seriously excited and looking forward to riding at North West Vic again as the track there is awesome! I did a Cameron Taylor Y-AIM at the track a few weeks ago where I learnt how the track flows and how it can change over the days racing. My goal for the weekend is to improve on my starts and making sure I stay consistent and safe. After the racing is done I want to catch up with all of my friends that I won’t see until pretty much next season.”
Thanks to all the riders who responded to the call, greatly appreciated!
