The fourth and final round of the 2017 Victorian Junior MX Championships will take place this weekend down at the Wonthaggi Motocross Track and one of the riders ready to tackle the weekend head on is Zach Allan.
Zach is currently competing in the 85cc SW C Grade class and is leading the way in that class heading into the final round.
“This is my first year racing the Victorian Junior MX Championships. I was excited but also nervous as I had only done a couple of local races before,” Zac said.
“I was a bit nervous during the first round at Cobram but I came way third overall. The second round at Colac was very wet, I’d never rode on sand before and the track had some of the biggest ruts I’ve ever seen but I had a cracker of a day and finished first overall.”
“I struggled a bit at Rosebud on the sand but I managed a first overall for that round.”
Zach does plenty of riding to prepare for his attacks on the Victorian Junior MX Championships and also would like to thank a couple of people for their help getting him set up for the Championships.
“I try to get in as much riding at home, when Mum and Dad let me, and attend as many practice days or events at my local club, Alpine Motorcycle Club.”
“Steve from KSP Offroad was able to help me get a great machine that hasn’t let me down the entire year, plus the help from Clint at Morrison Moto Garage have been a key part of my preparation this year.”
“I also attended a clinic held by Glenn from MACA Coaching, which was great! He was so easy to understand and I learnt a lot from him in the two days we spent at Wonthaggi. Let’s hope I can put what I’ve learnt onto the track and come away with some good results in this final round.”
When asked what he enjoyed about the Victorian Junior MX Championships, Zach said:
“The excitement in the week leading up to a race is awesome, Mum and Dad say I drive them nuts!”
“I have met some great friends through racing and always enjoy catching up with them on a track somewhere. Everyone is so helpful and hope to continue to catch up with them at the track in years to come.”
“This year hasn’t finished yet and I’m already excited about next year.”
The final round of racing for the Victorian Junior MX Championship is this weekend (Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd July) at the Wonthaggi MX Track.
