MILDURA’S rising motorcycling star Tom Dixon has a need for speedway.
The 14-year-old will this weekend be able to fulfil his thirst for the sport when he competes at the 2015 Victorian Speedway Under 16 (Junior 125cc) Championship at Olympic Park on Sunday, December 6.
In just his second season of speedway, Tom has impressively managed to win the Under 16 (Junior 125cc) class at the Jason Crump Trophy at Mildura in August.
“I was really happy after I won it. I scored a second and three first-places and when on straight to the final and won it,” Tom said.
“I love the fun of speedway, it’s great. The people I get to meet is awesome,” Tom added.
Tom was a spectator at the recent FIM Under 21 Speedway World Cup Final and is very keen to kick-start his engine for this weekend’s state title. “I learnt a lot from just watching those guys ride around. It was a great experience,” he said.
“I’d really like to podium again at my home track which would be nice,” he added. “Olympic Park is amazing, I just love it,” Tom said.
Tom would like to thank his Dad, Chris Dess, Daryl Black, STC Engineering, Ductmakers Sheetmetal, Charlie’s Engineering and everyone else that helps out.
The 2015 Victorian Speedway Under 16 (Junior 125cc) Championship, which takes place on Sunday, December 6, brings an end to a huge weekend of speedway at Mildura’s Olympic Park, which also includes the 2015 Victorian Speedway Solo Championships from December 5-6.
