THREE race wins marked Emma Milesevic’s miraculous comeback to motocross as she competed in the opening round of the 2016 Barry Francis Western Regions Motocross Series at Warrnambool’s Shipwreck Coast Motorcycle Club on Sunday, February 28.
The 18-year-old from Lal Lal, just outside of Ballarat, achieved three moto wins in the Ladies Expert class, topping the class with 105 points over the likes of Geelong’s Danielle Foot and Alysha Goullet from Sunbury.
Emma was thrilled for her comeback win in Warrnambool: “It felt great being out there. I was a bit nervous to start off with but after I had my first race I felt heaps better when that was out of the way. It was a great feeling,” Emma, who competed in her first competition since she sustained a back injury in August last year, added.
“It was a pretty good day, actually. It was fairly warm throughout the day and the track was prepared well. It had some nice, big ruts and some big jumps,” Emma said.
“I had a lot of fun racing all day, but I really enjoyed racing against the men in the A-Lites class. In the first race I got a pretty good start where I got a holeshot and finished in seventh place,” Emma added. She also impressively finished in eighth place in Moto 2 and Moto 3.
Emma is now really looking forward to the opening round of the 2016 Victorian Senior Motocross Championships that takes place at the Blue Rock Motorcycle Club in Newborough this weekend, March 5-6.
“I’m really looking forward to it. I can’t wait to get that finally underway. I’ve just got to keep training this week to make sure I’m all set for the weekend but I’m looking forward to being able to get back at it again,” she added.
“My goals are to always try my best and to better myself whenever I can when I’m racing and be competitive amongst the men as well as try to get on the top step of the podium as much as I can,” Emma continued.
Emma is also a big fan of the motocross track at Blue Rock: “I love riding hilly tracks. It’s got some really nice jumps and good soil so it’s a really good motocross track,” Emma said.
Emma would like to thank Thor, Spy, Gas Imports, Yamaha Motors Australia, Flight-path Materials, SK Designs, Full-Force Racing Components, Ride Park Victoria, Michelin, GYTR, and Yamalube for all their support throughout the season and her recovery.
The opening round for the 2016 Victorian Senior Motocross Championships takes place at the Blue Rock Motorcycle Club in Newborough, just 2 hours east of Melbourne, in the Latrobe Valley on the weekend of March 5-6.
