IILISH ‘Snoop’ Ross emphatically won the Women’s class by 12 points over Hannah Burns and Janet Kelly at the 2015 Victorian Senior & Junior Dirt Track Championships at Albury-Wodonga last weekend, December 5-6.
Iilish, from Albury-Wodonga, impressively finished in sixth-place in the Pro 250cc class and sixth-place in the Under-19s class. “It was hard work.
“They reckon the Under-19s was one of the hardest classes this weekend. We had names like Zack Cook and Tom Herrick and Boyd Hollis to go up against so it was definitely tough,” Iilish said. “We were happy with the results we got out of it,” she added.
Iilish won every race in the Women’s class, taking out all four rounds. “There was some good racing between myself and Hannah Guest but I guess I was better on the day. I had a few problems with the suspension on my bike but we got that sorted for the final,” the 16-year-old continued.
The temperature sky-rocketed into the high 30s on both days of competition. “The hot weather was hard for all of us and took a bit out of all of us but we just made sure that I kept cool and hydrated, thanks to Fit Moto of Melbourne, which definitely helped in the final,” she added.
She will now compete in the Troy Bayliss Classic in the Women’s class against Tayla Jones and Jess Gardner in January, compete in next year’s Australian Dirt Track Championships, and the Australian Superbike Championships in the 300cc class in 2016.

Iilish said it was still enjoyable racing in front of her home-town fans despite the conditions. “Because it was so hot the track was pretty dry but I knew where to go which was an advantage for sure,” Iilish said.
