UP TO six talented Victorian women will vie for motocross’s top prize – the Australian Women’s MX Nationals Title – at the final round of the 2016 Motul MX Nationals this weekend at Coolum in Queensland on Sunday, August 28.
Emma Milesevic, Courtney Whyte-Dennis, Madison Brown, Danielle Foot, Fleur Barling and Samantha Beecroft will all make the trip up to the sunshine state to take on the nations’ best this weekend.
Hear from all six of them:
Emma Milesevic: “I’m feeling really good for the weekend. I’m looking forward to riding at Coolum. I haven’t really ridden there in a long time. I really like riding in the sand. It’s a really rough, technical track so I’m looking forward to getting out there and racing against some of the girls that I haven’t raced before.
I’m going to just try my best. If I apply myself fully I will be in a podium position so I’m just really looking forward to putting in a 100 per cent effort.”
Courtney Whyte-Dennis: I”’m pretty pumped and excited. I feel like I’m pretty solid going into it. I’m hoping for a top five finish but a podium would be awesome.
It’ll be a good line-up of girls. I’m really keen to get out on the track and see what it’s all like against the other girls.”
Madison Brown: “I’m feeling pretty good. I’ve been training and working really hard and have had a pretty good season this year. I hope to be able to finish off strong.
I hope to defend my title for the third year running, that’s the plan. You haven’t got it until you’ve got it so I’ll just try my best and see what happens.”
Danielle Foot: “I’m excited for the whole weekend especially as this is my first Women’s MX Nationals. The last time I rode Coolum I really enjoyed the sand so I’m really excited. I got here a week ago to prepare. I’m pretty fit and I reckon I can go for it.
There’s a lot of fast girls though so the top ten are going to be very competitive so it’s going to be a good competition and it’s going to be fun too.”
Fleur Barling: “I’m feeling overwhelmed and just so excited to go up there. I’ve got so much support behind me. I’m so excited to experience the atmosphere of an MX Nationals. I’ve always wanted to do it and now I’ve got the opportunity and I’ve got my whole family, friends and sponsors behind me. It’s going to be great to go and live my dream.
I’m hoping for a top 15 or a top 10 finish. I don’t really mind. I just want to get up there and see what it’s like.”
Samantha Beecroft: “I’m really looking forward to it. It’s great to have so many girls competing against each other and I expect the track to be awesome.
I’m just going to ride to the best of my ability, hope for a top 15 finish. There will be some really good competition coming to Coolum. I’m just looking to get some really good experience up there.”
Motorcycling Victoria wishes all our girls heading up there the best of luck for this weekend.
