OVER 60 participants took part in last month’s Road Broadford Ride Day at Broadford’s State Motorcycle Sports Complex.
Jacob Bick was just one of the participants who thoroughly enjoyed the format of the day. “I went out on the track and it was great to be a part of a group of guys who weren’t really out there to win sheep stations but just there for a good time,” Jason said.
Road Broadford Ride Days are designed to provide road riders and recreational track riders on solo bikes only (not for national licensed Racers, juniors or Sidecars) with the opportunity to come along and enjoy the experience of riding a road circuit under the safe direction of a Clerk of Course, three Track Marshals and paramedical services.
“Everyone understood that we were out there to have a good day and not to pass anyone out on the track,” Jacob added. “The days provide a safe environment and allows you go at your own pace,” he said.
Jacob says the days, which are categorised into groups of skill-level (being Novice, Intermediate and Advance) will help him become a more confident rider.
“As it was my first Ride Day I wasn’t quite ready to move into the Intermediate group. I will be coming back. I will be starting off in Novice again and hopefully after I build my confidence up on the bike I will go into the Intermediate group,” Jacob added.
“I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and loved all the officials. They were all very professional and friendly and were happy enough to have a chat and share their experiences of motorcycling. It was an awesomely enjoyable experience,” Jacob said.
