COLAC rising star Angus Riordan is revving-up for the state’s third round of Victoria’s premier motocross competition for juniors – the M2R Helmets 2016 Victorian Junior Motocross Championships Presented by Honda Genuine Parts & Accessories – at Ararat next weekend May 7-8.
Angus, 12, finished second overall in the 65 A Grade class and first overall in the 85cc A Grade class for the second round of the VJMXC at the Shipwreck Coast Motorcycle Club in Warrnambool in early April.
“I’ve been riding pretty well. I rode really well in Warrnambool on the 85cc bike. The track was really fun. When I was racing there I felt pretty comfortable on the bike,” Gus said.
“In the first race in the 65cc A Grade class at Warrnambool I fell off four times, but in the second race I came first. I was pretty happy getting back up and out there again,” he added.
After recently taking part in a practice day at Ararat a week ago, Angus feels confident of maintaining his form in Round 3: “I like the track. I’ve got all the jumps down pat and hopefully I get first on both bikes,” he added.
“I’m going for it to win on the 65cc and 85cc classes,” Angus continued.
Angus also plans to compete in the much-loved 2016 Penrite Hattah Desert Race in July, wants to win the Australian Junior Motocross Championships in Renmark, South Australia in September and qualify and do well in the Junior World Motocross Championships in Horsham in 2018.
“I’m really looking forward to those events. I love the Hattah Desert Race and hope to do really well at the Aussie Championships,” he added.
“I’d really like to thank my Mum and Dad, my sponsors Express Diesel and Cobram Estate,” he praised.
