What is a medical suspension?
A medical suspension is applied to the licence of any rider who has been injured whilst riding at a Motorcycling Victoria permitted event.
The injury will be recorded by the Medical Team at the event and supplied to Motorcycling Victoria within 24hours. The information on these reports determines if a Medical suspension will be applied to a riders licence.
The Injuries that automatically result in a medical suspension being applied include (but are not limited to):
- An injury requiring hospitalization
- Injury requiring Ambulance Victoria transport
- Suspected Head or Spinal injury
- Loss of consciousness
- Difficulty breathing (respiratory problem)
- Fracture (including suspected fracture)
Additionally the Event Steward, in consultation with the Medical Team or First Aid officer, reserves the right to request a Medical Suspension on any rider they deem necessary after an incident, even if the rider doesn’t go directly to hospital on the day (i.e: refusal).
Please note: Any Medical Suspension requires clearance from a State Registered Medical Practitioner.
