On September 10-11, a number of young Victorian motocross riders will descend on Swan Hill Motorcycle Club for two days of intense coaching in preparation for the Australian Junior Motocross Championships in Renmark, South Australia from September 24 – October 1.
One of the riders who has already registered for the Training Camp is Taj Marshall.
“I’m attending the Training Camp to brush up on some skills and get some valuable ride time on a similar surface and venue,” Taj said.
Taj recently finished fourth in the 250cc A Grade class at the Victorian Junior Motocross Championships and is raring to go at Renmark.
“Attending the Camp we’ll get to see where some other good riders are at and just get some time putting down some laps and brushing up on the skills and techniques,” he said.
“There is a great mix of coaches attending, who know their stuff really well, and it will be good to hang out riding and bump a few thoughts back and forth.
“I’ve been putting some good hours of training in with Lee Hogan and its a good opportunity to implement certain things everywhere we ride but we’re happy with where we are at.”
In 2015, Taj took out the 250cc 13-15 year old Australian Championship at this same event and his plan is to be at the pointy end once again.
“When we hit Renmark we’ll take things as cruisey as possible for such a big event but we will have everything in place to do extremely well (the team and the bikes are awesome!), so it’s just a matter of doing our thing,”
On the venue itself: “Renmark has a great track and is a good club, so we are stoked about going there. The track doesn’t really favour any particular rider or style, so it will be good for all types of riders and should make for great racing,” he said.
“It will be a long week and a huge event but we have been here before and really looking forward to it!”
Registrations for the Australian Junior Motocross Training Camp are extended to Monday, September 5! Please email the registration form back to MV’s Sport & Rider Development Manager Mark Vallance to development@motorcyclingvic.com.au ASAP!
