SHEPPARTON local Madison Healey will go up against the best junior riders in the country as the 2016 KTM Australian Junior Motocross Championships kicks into gear this Saturday, September 24 in Renmark, South Australia.
The budding motocross rider from Kialla will try her luck in the Girls 85cc class and 85cc Big Wheel 12-14-year-old class in the country’s biggest motocross race during seven days of intense competition.
“I’m a little nervous but I’m actually really keen to see how I go,” she said.
She is aiming for a top three finish in the Girls class and will try and qualify for the final in the 85cc BW class against the boys.
The 12-year-old is no stranger to the Riverland Motorcycle Club in South Australia where she has competed in the South Australian Junior Motocross Championships and has done a coaching day there.
“It’s a really good track. It’s fun to ride and I can’t wait to get out there,” Madi said.
Earlier in June, she impressively finished second overall in the 85cc Small Wheel B Grade class in the 2016 Victorian Junior Motocross Championships. She was just three points behind winner Billy Dwyer.
Madi has also been named as a representative on the Victorian team that will vie for the coveted Interstate Cup at the AJMXC.
“That should be really good. I’ll just try my best and see where we end up,” Madi added.
Madi would like to thank Kristy Long for training her, AJ’s Motorcycles Parts & Apparels and Tune Tech Suspension.
