SEVILLE EAST’S Madison Brown won the Ladies Expert class at the opening round of the Honda Genuine Parts & Accessories 2016 Victorian Senior Motocross Championships Presented by Bridgestone at Newborough’s Blue Rock Motorcycle Club on Saturday, March 5.
The current Australian Women’s motocross champion took out the class by 8 points over Geelong’s Danielle Foot and Ballarat’s Emma Milesevic.
“It was a lot of fun. I’m pretty happy with two race wins so that was good,” Maddy said. In her first race, Maddy finished first ahead of Emma Milesevic by 06.727 seconds and Danielle Foot by 1 min, 3.758 seconds.
“I had a good battle with Emma in the first race. We had a few good battles and once I got round her I sort of pulled away. That was a good race,” she added.
“In the second race, I was out in front but (Emma) dropped it, and it was a pretty cruisey race,” Maddy, who by more than 20 seconds in the second, said. Maddy hopes for many more battles with all the girls this season.
“There’s always competition out there and it’s never easy. I really want to defend my number one plate in the Victorian Senior Motocross Championships and the Australian Women’s Motocross Championship as well,” she added.
Maddy will also compete in the FIM Women’s Motocross World Championships this year and will fly out of Melbourne next week on May 17. “I’ll be in England a week before the second round of the WMX in Valkenswaard in The Netherlands on March 28,” she added.
“I’ve already missed the Qatar round but I’m just going to do some selected rounds such as Germany (in May), France (on June 5), Italy (in June), and Switzerland (in August),” Maddy continued.
“I’m hoping for a top five finish. I got on the podium at one of the rounds last year, finishing third, but I’ll just try my best and see what happens,” Maddy added.
“I’d really like to thank Mark Stevens and Lucas Burton for helping me out financially to get me over there,” she said.
Maddy, however, will still be competing in every round of the VSMXC this year. “One of the rounds of the Worlds clashes with the Victorian Championships but I will still be coming home to compete here,” she added. “The last round of the Worlds also clashes with the Australian Women’s Motocross Championships but I’ll still be home for Coolum depending on how well I go overseas,” she said.
Maddy would like to thank Mark Stevens, Lucas Burton, DPH Motorsport, Yamaha Australia, Krooze Tune Suspension, GAS Imports, Thor, Spy, Dale Hocking, Jarrod Pine, Topline Seatcovers, Maxima Racing Oils, SP Tools Australia, the Collective Family as well as Alpine Stars for all their support this season.
