JORDAN Brown is hoping to continue his winning form when he takes to the track for just his second time in a state motocross championship when the Shipwreck Coast Motorcycle Club hosts the second round of the 2016 M2R Helmets Victorian Junior Motocross Championships Presented by Honda Genuine Parts & Accessories this weekend, April 9-10.
Having recently competed in the sports of footy and in enduro, including the Victorian Off-Road Championships (VORC), Jordan decided to make the switch to motocross and has been relishing his decision ever since.
“I was competing in the VORC last year but did only six rounds because I was playing footy but I made the decision to start racing motocross seriously.
“I decided to make the switch because I’m now more determined to do well in motocross and I feel it’s a better sport,” Jordy said. “I love the intensity of it. I just love twisting the throttle,” Jordy added.
Jordy got off to a perfect start at the opening round of the VJMXC in Korumburra in March winning his first two races and finished third in his last moto in the 85/150cc Big Wheel C Grade class.
“I was really happy with my first event. It was my first proper race after competing in the Shipwreck 2 Day Open earlier in the year where I finished first in that,” Jordy said.
“The track at Korumburra started off really well, got very rough, but was still good. I was coming in second in the last moto when I had a bit of a spill where I was in fifth. I managed to get back up to third, passed Charlie Moyle for third, and managed to stay there for the race which was good,” he added.
“I managed to win the overall by 4 points and picked up 100 points for the day,” Jordy continued.
Jordy is now looking forward to heading back to Warrnambool this weekend where it all started. “I love that track. It’s nice and flowing and the jumps are not too big and I love the start straight,” he added.
“My goal is to come first in the class this year but I would be happy to make the top three if something happens along the way,” he continued.
“I’m really looking forward to the season ahead,” Jordy said. “I’d like to say a big thanks to MotoHub Sunbury, Rockoil, Afam, EK Chains, Kenda Tire, and Battery Tender and my Mum and Dad for supporting me throughout the season,” he praised.
