MOE motorcycle rider Nathan Jones will be going full-throttle at Phillip Island this weekend, as the world-renowned circuit hosts the second round of the 2016 Motul Pirelli Victorian Road Racing Championship on August 27-28.
The Superbike racer, who is currently leading the coveted class by just 5 points over his brother Tyson, said he’s really looking forward to the second round.
“I took part in a practice day at Phillip Island about 6 weeks ago, around the Queen’s Birthday long weekend, to get in some practice. It was well worth doing.
“Other than that, I’ve just been training on the motocross bike, getting up some bike fitness when I can,” Nathan said.
Nathan won two out of three races in the opening round of the VRRC at Broadford in April and will be hoping to replicate his form come this weekend.
“It’s great that the VRRC is going back there. I’m really looking forward to it,” he said.
“I’d like to replicate Round One and maintain my championship lead. I know it’s going to be close but it’s possible,” Nathan added. “No doubt, I’ll be having a good battle with my brother.
“He’ll be right there. We were pretty close together when we did the practice day down there.
“Phillip Island is all about being smooth, especially if we get a bit of weather, which we might. It’s all about keeping it smooth and consistent,” Nathan added.
“I’d like to thank 3J Racing, my brother Tyson, Race Center, and Cykel Products Australia,” Nathan said.
Round 2 of the 2016 Pirelli Motul Victorian Road Racing Championships takes place at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit on August 27-28.
