YOUNG rising motocross star Jett Patullo is powering towards the top of the podium in the state’s premier motocross competition for juniors after he finished first overall in the 85cc C Grade class and first overall in the 65cc C Grade class in the opening round of the 2016 Northern Regions Motocross Series in Cobram on Sunday, March 20.
Jett, 11, from Epsom in Bendigo, is hoping to replicate his winning form at the second round of the M2R Helmets 2016 Victorian Junior Motocross Championships Presented by Honda Genuine Parts & Accessories at Lake Gillear, just outside of Warrnambool, on April 9-10.
He finished second overall in the 65cc C Grade class at the VJMXC in Korumburra on March 12-13. “I got equal first overall on my 85 bike and first overall on my 65 bike at Cobram on Sunday. It was really good racing,” Jett said. “I didn’t expect myself to come equal first on my 85 as it was only my third ride on it. The 85cc is a little bit harder to control but I’m finding it OK at the moment,” Jett added.
Jet says his confidence in riding has improved due to the coaching that he’s received. “Everything that I have learnt has been falling into place.
“I’d really like to finish first in all my classes in the Northern Regions MX Series and the VJMXC. I’m going to try and push myself a little harder and I reckon I will be able to achieve it,” Jett continued.
Jett hopes to one day emulate multiple motocross champion Chad Reed and believes he can be just as good as him one day. “He started riding at my age and I think I could do as well as him one day,” he added.
Jett would really like to thank the Whitten Brothers Junior Race Team, ECHUCA YAMAHA, and his coach Matt Ryan.
Jett, however, also thinks motocross is not always about winning: “I love racing a motorbike and hanging out with my friends almost every weekend,” Jett said. “It’s great fun.”
