HORSHAM Motorcycle Club will throw open its doors and welcome anyone and everyone who has ever been interested in motorcycle sport to their Come & Try Day at Dooen Recreation Reserve on Sunday, February 19.
Horsham Motorcycle Club, no stranger to hosting prominent motocross events, will this year host the 2017 Australian Junior Motocross Championships, the 2017 MX Nationals and will also host next year’s exciting Junior World Motocross Championships.
Horsham MC President Kenny Watts is looking forward to welcoming newbies to motorcycle sport: “We’ll open the track on Sunday for non-licenced riders to come and experience our venue and see if motocross is what they want to do. They can choose to race or just be a recreational/social rider,” Kenny said.
There will be coaches on-hand to provide newcomers tips on how to ride safely. “You’ll be able to test the waters first before you get onto the track. The coaches will assess your skill-level and determine whether or not you’re good enough to go out on the track.
“There will also be safety riders out on the track, one at the front and one at the back, who will make sure newcomers are alright,” Kenny added.
“The day is all about showing them how fun our sport can be and how friendly our club is,” he added.
New participants will also get the chance to take part in club’s successful Motocross Academy which will run sessions after the Come & Try Day.
First-time participants will also receive a free Motorcycling Victoria Recreational Licence for senior riders and a free Mini Licence for junior riders for 12 months when they take part in the Come & Try Day.
“I think the unbelievable ability of our riders of this sport is just amazing to watch and even better to experience. It’s a fantastic sport that everyone should be a part of,” Kenny added.
