Horsham Motocross Club recently hosted the MX Amateurs, this gave riders the chance to experience firsthand the conditions of the World Junior Motocross (MX) Titles.
The Horsham Motocross club carefully recreated the same conditions of the World Junior MX Titles during the recent MX Amateurs.
This gave the club the opportunity to experience the format of the event so that when the spotlight is on them come August that they will be set to shine!
It also gave riders the opportunity to experience this unique format. This is the first time that riders would have sighted a 2 lap warning system that they usually run in Europe and at the GP’s. The event also allowed for Pit Board access so that teams could communicate with their riders on track.
With longer races the 125cc riders went for 25 minutes plus 2 laps, the 85cc riders went 20 minutes plus 2 laps and the 65cc riders went for 12 minutes plus 2 laps; the experience was certainly an eye opener to many of the riders who had never experienced this type of race format before.
Regan Duffy turned up and dominated the track during the MX Amateurs, Duffy who is from WA is the current 125cc Australian Champion. Blake Fox stepped up from an 85cc in to the 125cc for the first time, truly a rider worthy of watching. Tyler Darby from NSW, although he is 17 years old, Darby was granted special permission to race against the juniors in this one off event at Horsham; Darby has also applied to be part of the Australian Squad to take on the World Junior MX Titles as a senior in August.
Ryder Kingsford of NSW took out the 85cc class, with reining Australian small wheel 85cc champion Jett Burgess Stevens taking out second place and Ty Kean from VIC doing us proud with a well achieved third place.
Another bonus was that riders could use their lap times at the MX Amateurs to add to their lap time portfolio attached to their pending applications to be part of the Australian squad for the World Junior Motocross (MX) Titles.
One thing was for sure all riders bought their A-game and had a blast out on the track.
