One of the biggest events in Australia is taking place this weekend in Victoria, hosted by the North West Victorian Motorcycle Club – the Hattah Desert Race.
Jacob Sweet will be competing in one of the Junior classes of Hattah this weekend.
“I competed in the 12-16 85cc-150cc BW class and will be competing in that same class this year,” Jacob said.
Last year Jacob finished up third in his class and 19th overall.
“I was really happy to get a podium in one of the toughest but by far the most fun races of the year.”
“I prepared last year by going to Crossfit Dromana two to three times a week and also riding with my coach, Kyle McKeddie, for long amounts of time through the bush to increase my endurance and motor bike skills.”
Jacob had great success in the race last year and with that success his preparation didn’t need all that much tinkering.
“This year I’ve prepared myself with cardio, bike strength, bike fitness and balance on the bike, as well as training with Kyle and help from Bruce from BLS Suspension.”
As one of the largest events to take place in this country, there is a great atmosphere around the weekend. Whether that be in the pits, on the start line or on the Friday night as scrutineering is taking place and there is always a decent crowd on hand to watch proceedings.
“I really enjoy the scenery and the way everything runs, most of all I enjoy holding it wide open down the big Hattah straights.”
