Motocross Management caught-up with Victoria’s number one motocross rider Joel Green ahead of the Supplementary Regulations and online entries to be released for the opening rounds of the Victorian Senior Motocross Championships and Victorian Junior Motocross Championships on Thursday, March 9.
What do you love about motocross?
Initially, I just loved the feeling of riding my bike and racing gave me the opportunity to ride different tracks, but as I have progressed I have come to enjoy the racing aspect of it. There’s no better feeling than working hard and being pumped with a result!
What/where have you been riding during the break over Christmas?
Luckily, I have a few great tracks that are pretty close that are really well prepared in summer such as Ride Park, Park4 and Muskerry. I was also lucky enough to take a month off work to ride in America in January, which was unreal.
What are you competing in this year? How many competitions will you be a part of?
The Victorian Senior Motocross Championships in the Pro Open class, the MX Nationals in MX1, and a few Swiss Championship rounds later in the year.
What are your goals for this year?
My main focus is to improve my own riding and if I can do that I think the results will follow. I would love to retain my Number 1 Plate in the Victorian Championship though.
What have you won in the past?
Really, up until last year when I won the Victorian Championship, not a lot!
What is your favourite track in Victoria?
Wonthaggi.
What are your career goals?
Just to keep having fun riding and to keep improving
Anyone else you would like to thank:
Apart from my sponsors that I have mentioned I’d also like to thank my family for the huge effort they put in driving around and putting up with me.
A huge shout out to Ty Rayfield from Zipfix who works extremely hard on my bikes and if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be racing! Ross Beaton for helping me with my technique on the bike and Rory and Ange for their help also!
