GEELONG’s Danielle Foot says she is ready to step it up a notch after what she believes was a disappointing start to her senior racing career in the Honda Genuine Parts & Accessories 2016 Victorian Senior Motocross Championships Presented by Bridgestone.
“The first round wasn’t very good. It didn’t go to plan. I was disappointed in myself as I didn’t ride the best I could’ve,” Danielle said.
“Especially with back-to-back races I was really exhausted after competing in the Under 19s class that was straight after the Ladies Expert class. Even in the B Lites I tried my hardest,” Danielle, who finished in an impressive second in the Ladies Expert class at Blue Rock MC earlier in March, said.
“I was just disappointed in myself and that’s made me hungry for better results in the next round,” Danielle, from Moriac, added. Round 2 of the VSMXC takes place at Colac next weekend, April 23-24.
“I’ve made a pretty big change since the opening round at Blue Rock. I’ve traded in my 4-stroke bike to a 2-stroke bike. It’s a big change. I’m used to a 2-stroke bike but I think the decision is for the best as being on the 4-stroke just wasn’t my thing.
“Hopefully, I can be up there with Emma and Maddy and have more battles with them this time round,” Danielle added.
Danielle was just voted as the Female Rider of the Year Award at the 2015 Australasian Dirt Bike Magazine Awards in its April edition, which she was thrilled to receive: “It’s exciting and I’m honoured to receive the award especially against some of the best female riders in Australia that we have.
“I didn’t expect it considering the other girls did some massive things last year. They’re much older, and especially being in my first year in the seniors, I’m really excited to receive the award,” Danielle added.
In 2015, Danielle won her fourth consecutive Girls 12 to under-16 title at the 2015 Penrite Hattah Desert Race in July, finished third overall in the women’s 14+ class at the 2015 Amateur National Motocross Championship in the United States in August, and claimed the 85cc/150cc Girls 12-u16-year-old and the 100cc-150cc/200cc-250cc Girls 13-u16-year-old titles at the Australian Junior Motocross Championships in October.
“I’m hoping to get it in 2016 again but I will have to work hard to achieve the amount that I achieved last year,” she continued.
On the second round of the VSMXC at Colac, Danielle says she’s looking forward to the sandy track. “It’s really good. When they prepare it, it turns out really good. I like sand tracks. It’s a fun track too and it gets pretty fast down the back straight which I like,” she said.
Aside from competing in the VSMXC this year, Danielle also plans on competing in her first-ever 2016 Tatts Finke Desert Race in June, the 2016 Hattah Desert Race in July, and the Australian Women’s Motocross Championships in Coolum in August.
“I’d really like to say a massive thank-you to Mototech Geelong and Jayce who delivered my bike in two days after we ordered it. I appreciate it very much. I also would like to thank Clikr MX, Oates MX, JCS Suspension, Will Max Images, Main Event Fitness, Troy Lee Design, Fist Handware, Motul, Pirelli and my parents for all their help,” she praised.
