A SINGLE point separates Moe brothers Nathan Jones and Tyson Jones in their quest for the much sought-after Superbike title at the fourth and final round of the 2016 Motul Pirelli Victorian Road Racing Championship at the State Motorcycle Sports Complex at Broadford this weekend from November 12-13.
Tyson, 30, trails his older brother Nathan, 32, but is looking forward to the last round of an intense but fun competition. “I’ve been doing a bit of mountain biking and dirt bike riding to keep my fitness up a bit before the final round.
“The racing is coming down to the wire now. Hopefully we get a good run and I get a win,” Tyson said. “It’s going to be good to get back on the bike and have a good go and hopefully go away with three wins,” Tyson added.
“I’m looking forward to the last round. The weather is looking alright for the weekend and it’s certainly going to be a good battle between me and Tyson,” Nathan said. “I know how keen Tyson is to win it. I’d like to get back to the consistent lap-times that I was doing at the start of the year.
“I’ll be happy if I get near the flat 57.00s around Broadford, and hopefully that will be close enough to clinch the title,” Nathan, who will be going for his third Superbike title this weekend, added.
Nathan picks his first round at the State Motorcycle Sports Complex at Broadford as his best round all season. “That’s the only one I’ve won and where I won all three races.
“Tyson brought the lead back. He rode better than me in the last round and I’ll need to get one back over him and hopefully end it on a high note,” he added.
Nathan and Tyson would like to thank Race Center, Pirelli, Cykel, 3J Racing and everyone who helped them out during the 2016 season.
