THE grand finale of the 2017 Australian Speedway Senior Solo Championship will wrap up tomorrow night in what will be an intense round four, at New South Wales’ Kurri Kurri Speedway on Saturday, January 14.
This year’s Aussie Speedway final round is likened to a powder keg with a very short fuse, set to go off with the slightest spark. Riders are champing at the bit to crack throttles wide open, lift those skinny front wheels and get crossed up in the charge to capture the flag.
Spearheading the charge, will be crowd favourites and top four contenders; Max Fricke, Justin Sedgmen, Dave Watt and Sam Masters who after round three on Wednesday night are current hopefuls for Championship glory.
Built in 2008 and home to the Kurri Kurri Speedway Club, the 320-metre senior track is one of Australia’s premiere speedway facilities that has seen many now World Champions, hone their craft on the hard packed clay surface.
Speedway superstar, Jason Doyle and other notable personalities will be present at the all-important event on Saturday night, lending their support and enthusiasm for both spectators and riders alike. Crowd numbers at the well-known Kurri Kurri circuit are tipped to be strong as tradition will prove, turning out in a strong showing of support for our amazing Aussie talent pool.
Due to the very slight margin in current overall championship points separating the top few guys, racing will be down to the wire and we are expecting a brand new champion to be crowned for 2017.
Many riders will return to Kurri Kurri in two week’s time for the Under 21 Championship, the Under 16 125cc Championship and the Under 16 250cc Championship
Gates of the of the 2017 Australian Speedway Senior Solo Championship final round will open at 3:00pm with a race start time of 6:30pm.
