HAMILTON’s Lachlan Davis is still in the lead to win the coveted MX1 Pro class in the Victorian Senior Motocross Championships after claiming third overall in an extremely exciting third round of the state’s premier motocross competition for seniors in Maffra-Sale over the weekend, June 3-4.
Just three points separates the 20-year-old and Broadford’s Joel Green after Davis picked up a total of 89 championship-points over the weekend, which included a convincing win in the last race. “I felt like I was riding pretty well on the weekend.
“I felt like I had the speed. In the first race, I had the holeshot but I stalled the bike in the first corner which was a bit of a bummer. I went back to fifth and passed a few people to get back into third and that’s where I finished,” Lachlan said.
“In the second race, I had an alright start, where I was in third, just behind Rory (McKercher) and Joel hoping to make a pass but instead I went down unfortunately, which hurt a bit but I finished the race.
“In the last race, I got the holeshot and lead the whole way, which was a good one. It was just a bit of a pity that I couldn’t have done that a few more times on the day,” Lachie said.
Lachie would like to thank Ross Beaton, Thor, Gas and Mototech and Fist Handwear, Will Max Graphics, JCP, Marcus Alexandra who helped him out on the weekend.
The final round of the Victorian Senior Motocross Championships will take place at Albury-Wodonga at the end of the month, June 24-25. “It’ll definitely come down to the wire in the last round, which will be nice. Joel is just three points behind me and Callum Norton is only a couple of points behind him so anything can happen,” Lachie said.
