GEELONG’s Danielle Foot is ready to step-up into the senior ranks for the first time as she competes in this weekend’s opening round of the Honda Genuine Parts & Accessories 2016 Victorian Senior Motocross Championships Presented by Bridgestone at the Blue Rock Motorcycle Club in Newborough, March 5-6.
Danielle, from Moriac, got her first taste of senior competition when she competed at last weekend’s 2016 Barry Francis Western Region Motocross Series at Warrnambool. “It was a good weekend. It was a learning experience. I finally got to race some of my competition,” Danielle said.
Danielle finished second overall in the Ladies Expert class, just 9 points behind Ballarat’s Emma Milesevic. “It was good to see where I’m at. I learnt a lot and I know where I have to improve on,” Danielle added. “I need to get my head around the 250cc bike a bit more, keep it strong and improve on those little mistakes and imperfections,” she continued.
Danielle says she really enjoyed racing against the likes of Emma, Alysha Goullet, Jess Heaney and Fleur Barling. “It was really good racing. I know where I’m at now so I just got to keep improving so I can get even more up there with the other girls. I know there’s Emma and Maddy (Brown) who’ll be competing (in the VSMXC),” Danielle added.
“I can’t wait to get the season started. I just want to be able to do my thing and get the first round over and done with and keep going from there,” Danielle said.
Danielle is also a fan of the spectacular motocross track at Blue Rock MC. “It’s great. I like the track. It’s got some good jumps, and it’s a fast and flowing track. It ruts up really nicely. It’s a fun track!” Danielle added.
The Australian Junior Motocross champion says her first year in the Victorian Senior Motocross Championships as a learning year: “I’m just going to try my best and see where I’m at. This year is definitely a learning year. I’ll be having a crack at the VSMXC,” Danielle added.
Danielle also plans to compete in every round of the Under 19s class against the boys in the 2016 MX Nationals, the Finke Desert Race in June, and Women’s MX Nationals in August. “It’s all very exciting,” Danielle said.
Danielle would like to thank her sponsors Oates MX, Mototech Geelong, JCS Suspension, Will Max Images, Main Event Fitness, Troy Lee Design, Fist Handware, Motul, Pirelli and her parents.
