DANDENONG Motorcycle Club will throw open their doors for newcomers to try out motocross and off-road racing for the very first time at Wonthaggi on Sunday, February 26.
Come & Try Days are an excellent opportunity for your club to attract new riders and increase the club’s membership-base. It’s a fantastic chance to attend a day at a club so as to get familiar with your bike in your chosen discipline of motorcycle sport.
DMCC president Daniel Walker is excited to welcome new faces to the sport next Sunday: “We just want to get the word out to our local schools so we can grow motorcycle sport in the area.
“We’re also targeting off-road riders to get more people in the sport,” he said.
There will be about three to four certified coaches on-hand to teach the newcomers on the day.
Asked why he loved the sport of motorcycling, Daniel replied: “I always feel really good on a bike. I just love riding.
“Give it a go. You’ll catch the bug like I did and all you will want to do is to ride every weekend, whether it’s competitively or recreationally,” he added.
Daniel says the club is working hard to spruik-up the club as it gets ready to host the opening round of the 2017 MX Nationals, the biggest motocross competition in Australia, in April.
Come & Try Days also provide the opportunity for newcomers, who have never had a Motorcycling Australia licence before, to receive a free $130 Annual Mini licence for junior riders or a free $130 Annual Recreational licence for senior riders.
“We’re currently redoing the enduro-cross section to be more off-road focused. We want to be able to have a complex that will offer more practice days and we’re on the way to do that,” Daniel said.
The Dandenong Motorcycle Club is located at West Area Road in Wonthaggi and will start at 9am. For more information or to register your interest please contact Glenn on 0418 374 362 or visit: www.dmcc.com.au.
