THE Cobram Border Junior Motocross Club will welcome the state’s best junior motocross riders when they host the opening round of the 2017 Victorian Junior Motocross Championships this weekend, March 25-26.
The club’s secretary Rachel Thom said they have been busy preparing the track and the club to welcome well over two hundred riders and their families for the opening round of the state’s premier motocross competition for juniors.
“The club is going very well. We have great committee members who provide a lot of help and we’re all looking forward to this weekend,” Rachel said.
Rachel says the track is looking awesome. “We’ve been out there all last week getting it ready. We’ve used a lot of machinery to get it ready and have created some new berms.
“It’s all ready to go,” she added. “Hopefully participants can go away saying ‘Cobram is an awesome track!’,” Rachel said.
13-year-old rider Alex Cameron, from Boosey, south-east of Cobram says he’s looking forward to competing and hanging out with his friends on his hometown track this weekend.
Cameron started out in the sport by trying a Come & Try Day at the Cobram Border Junior Motocross Club one day and has since fallen in love with the sport. “It’s really fun and you get to meet great people,” Cameron said.
Cameron will be competing in the 85cc Big Wheel C Grade class where he hopes to achieve a top ten finish.
