The cost of Affiliation covers many things including the significant insurance bill associated with our sport, however the benefits of affiliating with Motorcycling Victoria far exceed the proven Insurance coverage.
Offering Insurance that has been proven to protect riders, clubs, committees and the sport for 20 years paying out in excess of 26 million dollars, in a lot of these cases legal costs can be from $300,000-$600,000. Keeping in mind that defending a basic claim on behalf of a club will have legal costs starting at $30,000 before a resolution is agreed upon. (Legal action is usually taken against the club in the first instance).
Approved Affiliations remains in force for 12 months from 1st January – 31st December
In addition to the insurance coverage, there are benefits associated with each type of Affiliation. They types of benefits will be determined by the Affiliation type.
Motorcycling Victoria offers three (3) types of Affiliation, they are:
- Club Affiliation – APPLY ONLINE
- Private Promoter Affiliation – APPLY ONLINE
- Region\Interclub Affiliation – APPLY ONLINE

Benefits of Club Affiliation
- Affiliating as a Motorcycling Victoria Club also helps drive membership revenue for the club as licence holders MUST be members of your club.
- 2 x Free Come & Try days with support from the MV office for promotion of these days.
- Free working bees (non-riding).
- Access to Coaching courses to train and accredit Club Coaches.
- Access to Officials training for clubs and members.
- Access to Club competition, recreational riding and the new RPA (Ride Parks Australia) permits.
- Liaising with Ambulance Victoria to ensure events are not stopped in regional areas due to resourcing issues.
- Eligible to host Region MX and state titles in MX, Off-road, SW & DT and other disciplines.
- Event and licencing systems along with record keeping.
- Club members have the opportunity to compete at officially recognised State, National and International level events as there are clear pathways within our structure.
- A clear set of rules for the sport which have been developed over many years and are reviewed annually.
- Venue standards and licensing which are reviewed annually to make our venues as free from risk as possible.
- Support to clubs when making submissions to local councils for Land Use Permits.
- Support with event funding grants from councils when applying for event Funding grants.
- MV, MA and Motorsport Australia have been successful in campaigned the Victorian Govt. to invest 7.4 Million in Motorsport, this is only available to affiliated clubs. These grants are for Event funding and also Infrastructure.
- MV provides Structure, Systems, Judicial process and rules which ensure a smoother and fairer outcome when clubs have disputes or any disciplinary matters.
- MV also provides a media platform for all of our clubs and not just Facebook to promote the sport and your club.
- If things go wrong and the club faces legal action you are supported with legal representation from MAIL, MA and MV, this may even include representing your club in front of a Coroner.
- Counselling for members after serious incidents.
- Transparent reporting of how funds to MV are allocated via 6 delegate meeting each year.
- Club nominated Delegates receive voting privileges at MV General Meetings and AGM
- Club members are eligible to nominate for the MV Board as a director
- Each club will receive one additional free Come & Try day per year to run a female only event
